When the subject of assisted reproduction comes to mind, it’s usually IVF that people think of.
Although once a somewhat novel technique, in vitro fertilisation—IVF’s full name—has since entered the mainstream to certain degree. In its four decades of existence, it has been responsible for untold numbers of pregnancies in couples who had exhausted all other avenues and, in some cases, given up hope.
Today, IVF remains as relevant as ever. The basic principle too remains the same: egg production is hyperstimulated using special medicines, after which egg and sperm are collected and brought together in a lab to form an embryo, which is then transferred to the uterus of the female. Simple right?
IVF treatment in Prague happens to be one our specialities, and we have worked closely with Gynem Fertility Clinic, one of the very best in the country, since our inception. Read on to learn more.

This price includes:

– Monitoring and consultations with doctors

– Compulsory pre-treatment tests

– Sperm collection, semen analysis (spermiogram)

– Ultrasound examinations during treatment

– Egg retrieval performed under general anaesthesia

– Fertilisation via ICSI

– Prolonged cultivation of embryos up to blastocyst stage

– Transfer of one to two fresh embryos

– Airport transfer and taxi fare for first visit to clinic

– 20% discount on 3rd cycle

Additional costs:

– Stimulation medications: €800 – €1500

– ECG (for women over 40): €100

This price does not include:

– Flight ticket and accommodation

Refunds:

If egg retrieval stage is not reached, although deposit of €1,000 cannot be refunded, balance of payment will no longer be due. If egg retrieval stage is reached, but no eggs are collected, a partial refund of €500 from total price will be issued to you. If, at completion of embryo culture, there is no suitable embryo for transfer, a partial refund of €200 from total price will be issued to you. All medication purchases are non-refundable.

Requirements:

In accordance with Czech law, in vitro fertilisation treatment can only be administered if the woman is below 49 years of age and has a verified male partner.

How does it work

First Visit in Prague

The first step is to fill in our fertility questionnaire and undergo any required pre-treatment tests for you and your partner. You can do this back home or here at the GYNEM clinic. During the initial consultation with our experienced doctor, an individual IVF stimulation protocol will be determined. The nurse will explain to you how to use the medicaments and an agreement with the clinic will be signed. Sperm can also be collected and frozen so that it is not necessary for the man to return to Prague again.

The price of the initial consultation is 150 EUR, which will be returned to you once you decide to go ahead with the IVF program at our clinic. A deposit of 1000 EUR is required during your first visit at the clinic.

First Visit via Skype & Email

If for personal or work reasons you cannot travel to Prague for an initial consultation, this is an alternative option. The first step is to fill in our fertility questionnaire, undergo required pre-treatment tests back home and send us results. After the clinical evaluation we will provide you with Skype consultation with our fertility doctor. Online consultation is free of charge.

Second Visit in Prague

The stimulation of your ovaries starts on the 2nd day of your period and lasts approximately 12 days. During this time you will attend ultrasound scan controls (on the 6th and 9th day), in order to determine whether the dosage of the medicaments is optimal for you.

Around the 12th day of stimulation the egg retrieval will take place under general anaesthesia. On the same day, a sperm sample will be collected for fertilization (unless provided in the first visit or if donor sperm will be used). The cultivations of embryos lasts 3-5 days and we inform you every day about how the embryos are developing.

Around the 15-17th day from the start of the stimulation the embryo is transferred. We currently transfer 1-2 embryos. The amount of transferred embryos will be discussed and decided with the patient, doctor and embryologist. Unused and healthy embryos can be frozen and used at a later time if the first attempt is not successful.

14 days after the embryo transfer takes place you will take a pregnancy test. If the pregnancy test is positive, please continue taking prescribed medications until the 10th week of pregnancy. If the pregnancy test is negative immediately discontinue taking prescribed medicaments.

Duration of stay in Prague

Short stay (3 days)

Your total stay in Prague is approximately 3 days if you undergo the ultrasound scan on the 6th day and 9th day back home. You and your partner will arrive one day before the egg retrieval to complete the pre-treatment tests for general anaesthesia. You will be here at the day of egg retrieval and come again for the embryo transfer day which takes place 3-5 days after egg retrieval day.

Recommended stay (7-10 days)

Your total stay in Prague is approximately 7-10 days if you undergo an ultrasound scan on the 6th day of your cycle back home and send us results via email. You will arrive on the 9th day of your cycle to undergo ultrasound scan at the clinic and to complete pre-treatment tests for general anaesthesia (egg retrieval is done under general anaesthesia). The egg retrieval takes place around 12th day of your stimulation period and embryo transfer will be after 3-5 days.

Long stay (17 days)

Your total stay in Prague is approximately 17 days if you undergo the whole cycle here in Prague (start of stimulation from 2nd day of your period, ultrasound scan on the 6th day and 9th day). You and your partner will arrive one day before the egg retrieval to complete the pre-treatment tests for general anaesthesia. The egg retrieval takes place around 12th day of your stimulation period and embryo transfer will be after 3-5 days.

The male partner’s stay in Prague can be reduced to only one or two days.

Ultrasound scan (Uterus and fallopian tubes)
can be done at the clinic anytime

Hormonal levels (blood tests for FSH, LH, AMH, PRL, TSH)
can be done at the clinic between the 2nd and 5th day of your period

STD diseases (Hepatitis B and C, HIV and Syphilis)
can be done at the clinic anytime

If STD test results register positive/reactive, an additional examination will be required at a fee of €100.

Highly recommended

Cervical cultures (smear tests of ureaplasma, mycoplasma and chlamydia)
can be done at the clinic when not having period

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Gynem for anyone thinking of pursuing fertility treatment abroad. I wish I done it far sooner instead of having so many failed attempts in the UK. Finally, after being abruptly told by my consultant at home that I should give up and I was now too old we decided to look into embryo donation abroad. I would highly recommend Gynem clinic. My husband and I live in Prague but we are both English speakers and so our co-ordinator to book our appointments and to answer any questions we had between appointments. From the very first communication over email and phone, coordinator was friendly, helpful and supportive and we really felt that she couldn’t do enough for us. When we went for our appointments there was a lovely warm reception for us and every single receptionist, nurse and doctor that we met were all very professional and caring, we really can’t fault the service they provide. We felt we weren’t just another couple but that they took an individual approach to our treatment and were extremely thorough in explaining all treatments in detail and answering all of our questions. The positive experience that we had with Gynem made the treatments so straight forward and took away a lot of anxiety and stress that we had been feeling prior to starting with them. The Gynem clinic is very good, professional and clean and hygienic. The treatment protocol was very good in terms of transportation collection from the airport and from hotel to the clinic. I also appreciated that the staff spoke very good English to help with communication. It was also very useful to be able to receive the preparation medication in England before travel in order to prepare for treatment in addition I appreciated the skype calls with the Doctor and representative which allowed me to ask questions and saved upon additional expense and time having to travel to the clinic prior to treatment. The whole experience was pleasant as the staff were very friendly and helpful and answered my questions promptly. The whole process went smoothly which was good and staff made you feel at ease along with the receipt of a timetable for the prep medication. I would highly recommend the treatment and clinic and I would come back again for further treatment. The only thing that could be improved is the instructions /guidance for post treatment in terms of when to take the medication for what length of time, maybe supplying a calendar schedule and how to go about purchasing additional medication would be useful, but I over came this by communicating with you in order to clarify how long to take the medication for. I would like to add that the whole experience was a positive outcome as we now have a beautiful baby girl. Can you please pass on our gratitude to both yourself and the Doctor and staff as we are so grateful for this. Thank-You so so much. PAYMENT TERMS

A deposit of 1 000 EUR must be paid beforehand via bank transfer / credit card / cash once you have confirmed the treatment (covers the cost of the treatment). The remaining sum must be paid prior to the date of the egg retrieval or on the day of the egg retrieval (we accept cash, credit cards, or a direct bank transfer into our account).
